Sierra Madre, also known as The Backbone of Luzon, is considered to be the most biodiverse areas and the largest rainforest of the country that takes up to 40% of the country's forest cover. Along with it's wildlife species, Sierra Madre is a key habitat to different species from birds to mammals, invertebrates to vertebrates, rare plants to amphibians species. More importantly, Sierra Madre is a home for the endangered species such as the Philippine Eagle, Hawk-Eagle, Philippine Brown Deer and Hawksbill Turtle in it's coastline and many others. Currently, Sierra Madre is threatened by the illegal logging, mining, deforestation, conversion of forest lands and the mega-dam that will surely affect the biodiversity of Sierra Madre.

With the threat and lack of focus on Sierra Madre this petition has a mission to spread awareness of what is happening on this mountain range and eradicate the silence of the people and community members because silence and stagnation will lead to Sierra Madre's fall.

Recognizing the importance of Sierra Madre, the vision of this petition is to have Better Understanding and Caring of Nature that will result to the over-all growth of the country.
