On March 2nd 2020, a good friend of mine was badly struck by a vehicle on the crosswalk located by Lomita Blvd. and Belle Porte Ave. in Harbor City, California. This unfortunate event left my friend with a broken pelvic, broken arm, multiple scratches and bruises. Fortunately she didn’t sustain any head or spinal injuries, but the injuries she did sustain will take months of rehab to fully recover.

This accident could’ve been prevented if there were proper flashing lights on and above the crosswalk to help signify drivers that there’s a pedestrian. The crosswalk is located by Harbor City park where several families visit on a daily. With the new skate park, it raises more of a concern for the children and adults walking to that park. Please help me by signing this petition to raise awareness regarding this ongoing issue and to hopefully encourage the city to install proper lights on this crosswalk.
