Plastic is everywhere and it's getting worse! 
 
Plastics are contaminating our soil, rivers, oceans…and for the first time ever, molecules of plastic are being found outside of planet Earth in SPACE!!! Can you believe that micro-plastics are even being detected in all of the major filtering organs in the human body?! {and in animals!}
 
Many of us are already doing our part to reduce plastic pollution by recycling and reducing single-use items, but it's just not enough. We REALLY need to do something about this and the time is NOW! 

If we're going to be successful in this fight, we're going to need the help of businesses in positions of leadership and this is why we want to get the attention of Hannaford Supermarkets.
 
Since it was first launched in the 1880s, Hannaford has become one of the most popular grocery stores in Maine. Every day, thousands of Maine residents visit their locations throughout the state. SO many of their products use plastic packaging. And although we want to eliminate plastic 100%, let's start with addressing the “convenience to-go options”! These “convenience” products are often seen in the deli department and produce sections. Although this packaging may be convenient for consumers, it's becoming a major problem in our environment! That's why we're calling on Hannaford to end the use of this packaging in their stores.
 
Hannaford has demonstrated a true effort and intention to become more sustainable in its practices. (i.e. they do a wonderful job composting all their food waste). Now let’s ask them to focus on finding alternatives to  “convenience-to-go” single-use plastic packaging”

“When” (not if) Hannaford makes the switch, they can help us eliminate millions of tons of plastic waste every year.
