HANDS OFF OUR RIVERFRONT VIEW!

The Issue

TELL the Mayor, city Councilors, city administration and the developers not to monetize one of Windsor’s greatest assets by authorizing the construction of the riverfront plaza dome.  This, four story, thirty-four-million-dollar, assault on our beautiful riverfront, would only be the beginning as it will no doubt, set a skyline blocking precedent.

Please sign this independent petition to let city council know that you want bylaw 8600, which clearly states “no new building or parts thereof shall be permitted to extend above the crown of the pavement within Riverside Drive.” upheld to its full intent. By signing you are confirming that improvements to the plaza must not infringe in any way on our riverfront legacy.

“Experience has shown that the price of keeping our waterfront free from development is eternal vigilance.” These words written so long ago, by Bert Weeks, one of our foremost waterfront park champions, foretold the ever-present danger, to our fantastic riverfront view.

Time is of the essence! As early as the January 30, 2023, city council will be debating an administration report that will more than likely recommend moving forward on blocking a good portion of our beautiful riverfront view. The fact that our mayor and many council members will likely be in favor proves, once again, that constant vigilance must be the order of the day.
