Texas lawmakers are about to kill an entire industry—and with it, thousands of jobs, millions in local revenue, and the freedom of Texans to choose how they manage their health.

A bill sitting on Governor Abbott’s desk would ban hemp-derived THC products across the state. These are the legal, federally approved gummies, seltzers, and oils sold in more than 5,000 shops across Texas—including right here in Dallas. For many veterans, cancer patients, and working Texans, these products are the only accessible relief for chronic pain, PTSD, and anxiety.

The hemp ban isn’t about safety—it’s about power. It threatens to gut a $4 billion industry made up of local entrepreneurs, not big corporations. It puts people out of work and strips responsible adults of their right to make personal choices.

We don’t need another drug war. We need smart regulation, not sweeping prohibition. Let’s put age limits and dosage caps in place—but don’t destroy a thriving industry that helps so many.
