Call on HRSD to reduce waste & sewage collection costs!
The Issue
Hampton Roads families struggle with the daily expenses of living in the area. My family budgets for things like utilities, fuel, groceries, etc. & are very grateful that we do not have to borrow money to cover an unexpected high bill. Not all families have that ability. Just the other day I spoke with a young man from Norfolk who was headed to pawn his jewelry so that he could pay the unexpectedly high water bill in full so that HRSD/HRUBS/City of Norfolk would turn the water back on in his house where he, seniors & small children reside!
Each utility seems to go up time after time without any notice or explanation. Water delivery & use & the billing for refuse & waste water without a single acknowledgement or indication from HRSD, HRUBS, or the City of Norfolk. In addition, many of us saw a higher bill for January service yet thousands of us went without a week's pick up of refuse & recycling due to snow from the "Bomb Cyclone"!
Join me & other Norfolk residents in our demand for lower costs for water delivery, refuse & waste water collection. Service providers must be held accountable for their charge increases. It is unethical for a company to raise it's fees without notice for something as vital as WATER!
