Campaign to stop the Junction in Andover closing due to withdrawal of council funding.

Since 2004, the Junction has been one of the few resources run specifically to provide help, support and advice for the young people of Andover. In this time, they have assisted numerous youngsters with housing applications, interviews, confidence and self esteem building, sexual health advice and counselling. The drop in centre is a unique facility in the town that provides vital services which would prove difficult to access should this vital asset be withdrawn. The future of the centre is in serious jeopardy since news that £56,000 of county council funding will be withdrawn with effect from March 2017.
Closure of the Junction will inevitably mean that some of the most vulnerable of our young generation will slip through the net and be failed by a lack of support and help that doesn't readily exist elsewhere in our town. For many it has provided food, shelter and a safe haven. The staff have worked tirelessly to educate, inspire and mentor those who have worked hard to turn their own lives around. Their extensive facilities which include a recording studio; have provided means for the young people to express themselves through music and film, addressing the issues that are paramount to their generation working with other organisations such as Fixers and Papyrus.
Surely, its time we invest in our future rather than take away what little support currently exists for this age group? If you feel as strongly as many others do about the potential closure of the Junction, please add your name and support a campaign to support our youth and young people.
