Help Keep Pellant Road Green

The Issue

As many of you will know, in May 2020 Hartopp and Lannoy Points will begin to be demolished due to structural safety concerns. What you may not know is that F&H council have granted themselves permission to destroy the green space in front of Hartopp and Lannoy Points on Pellant Road in order to demolish the towers.

The beautiful green space visible from Pellant Road, Prothero Road and Mendora Road is an open space that has been used by locals since it was built. The lush grass and tall glorious trees are loved and appreciated by so many but sadly disregarded by the council.

THE FACTS
1. 87% of these trees, aged around 50 years old, will be destroyed in May/June 2020.
2 The council failed to protect any 'open space' on the estate as stated in the 'Compulsory Purchase Statement for Reasons' 13.1.
3. The council failed to submit an application to fell these trees which would have hopefully seen more trees retained. Instead the council found themselves a convenient safety loophole.
4. Whilst the council has a ‘re-planting scheme’ this is no replacement for felling mature trees and replacing them with seedlings.
5. Pellant Road has been a green street for around 50 years and now it is going to be destroyed

After the local residents have endured months and months of demolition we will have years and years of building. We have been told that local residents will be able to give 'input and give feedback ' into the plans for the future build. Let us stand together in this.

Let us all join together in this petition and make it clear that we, the local residents, want our green space replaced. We want it replaced in the same footprint, with a proper replanting scheme which will stand the test of time. We want our green street back! We will also be campaigning for the existing trees to have tree protection orders placed upon them so they are not victim to any more unnecessary felling.
