STOP THEFT AND VANDALISM: Increase Police Presence in Dundas, Ontario

Dundas, Ontario is thought of as a good community; a charming village with older established neighbourhoods, excellent schools, wonderful shops, restaurants and most importantly, caring people.  It has that small-town feel where residents take pride in their environment, respecting and supporting one another regardless of age, gender, or race.  Dundas is considered a cohesive and safe place to live and raise a family.

Unfortunately, our safe community is being compromised. Over the past few years, there has been a surge in crime across our town. Countless break-ins, theft, and serious vandalism (spray-painted words of profanity and racist graffiti in parks and elementary schools), and assaults have been reported. The amount of theft including house break-ins, car and garage break-ins are almost daily.

According to the Hamilton Police, we currently have two patrol cars who are usually taking calls (outside of our community) which means that our neighbourhoods are not being patrolled the way they should be. We are requesting a full-time community-based police presence in Dundas (similar to what we used to have). The current model is not serving our community and crime continues to increase. Dundas residents deserve to feel safe again.
