The biggest eyesore in Lewis County is the hamilton corner sign next to I-5 exit 72 commonly known as the Uncle Sam sign. It was originally put up by Alred Hamilton to protest the government trying to ban billboards on the side of the freeway. The sign has featured ignorant and hateful messages such as "evergreen state college home of environmental terrorist and homos?", "Freedom is dangerous slavery is peaceful" and "where is the birth certificate". While this is protected as free speech it is also prejudiced against our minor brothers and sisters in southwest Washington. We are asking that Hamilton corner LLC take down this sign and donate the land to the city of Napavine, this hate speech reflects poorly on everyone in lewis county and we do not want this sign to continue to be what we are known for to people traveling on I-5.
