The smash Broadway musical "Hamilton" has wowed audiences across the world. Those fortunate enough to get tickets have been blown away with its phenomenal music, lyrics and choreography. Since its debut on Broadway in 2015, fans have been calling for a film adaptation. Lin-Manuel Miranda, lead creator of the musical and the title character in the original Broadway cast, has said that while a film adaptation is possible, it won't be for many years. In the meantime fans have been promised a film of the original Broadway cast performance, which began streaming on Disney+ July 3rd, 2020. 

Fans have been talking about a live-action adaptation when "Hamilton" finally gets its silver screen makeover. But I believe that a professionally hand-drawn animated adaptation would do a better job of capturing the essence of the stage production for several reasons.

1. Can use the original Broadway cast recordings and character designs, or possibly cherry-pick the best portrayal of each character from the various casts.

2. Unique visuals, angles, and transitions that can only be done in animation.

3. Would be the first animated film adaptation of a Broadway musical (and what a musical!).

Artist Pati Cmak on Tumblr has shown us with her amazing drawing skills what Hamilton could look like as an animated film. You can view her Hamilton gallery here (the photo above is from this gallery). Multiple YouTubers have collectively animated all of the songs from the musical, with still drawings, each showcasing their different art styles.
