STOP the CLEAR CUTTING of 15 acres

The Issue

Sign this petition to stop the destruction of 15 acres of wooded mountainside!
DSD Solar wants to clear cut 15 acres of this beautiful wooded mountainside to construct a solar panel project.  Trees should not be cut down and replaced with solar panels.  This should not be a battle between solar energy and trees.  There are benefits to both and with due diligence, they should coexist. Solar arrays should be constructed where trees don’t exist. There are so many more viable locations such as blacktops, rooftops, vacant lots, and land already void of trees just to name a few.
360 Gaylord Mountain Road in Hamden, CT. is not the place for this solar panel project to be constructed.
Our neighborhood and mountainside are still recovering from the tornados that tore through our yards in 2018.

What about the wildlife? The bears, turkeys, deer, mink, fox, bobcats, coyotes, box turtles, owls, pileated and red-headed woodpeckers, hawks and numerous native birds that call this area home?  What is the impact to them?

What about the massive amounts of storm water that already rushes down this mountain and floods Gaylord Mountain Road and our neighbors in the Sunwoods development?  Can you imagine the erosion and increase in water flow this project will cause when they strip this mountain of its trees; the very things that help absorb the water and prevent erosion now?

These are just two of a long list of concerns the Hamden residents have about this project.  Besides being an eye sore and decreasing our property values, this project will not benefit any of Hamden’s residents. Even the town of Hamden won’t benefit from this project. Vertical Bridge and DSD Solar are the ones who will benefit from it and at what cost to OUR environment?

Please SIGN this petition TODAY and help us stop this solar project and save our mountain!

We’ve been asked, so I’d like to clarify - Please be advised we may set up a fund for this cause at a later date.
