Your opinion does matter! This is our chance for our community to be heard!

It was announced on the Farnworth police twitter account yesterday that Cheshire Police are conducting a Street Awareness event on Moorfield Road / Camberwell Park Road between 10.00am until 14.00pm this Saturday, the exact location is not known. We have requested further information regarding the event but we have received no further information from Cheshire Police. It would be really great if you could support the Moorfield Action Group and our community by letting them know the strength of feeling in the local area.

Rob Polhill, Council Leader of Halton Borough Council has said due to the fact that the Moorfield Action group had portrayed Halton Borough Council in a bad light to the local press, he was not willing to do anything further for residents and would not budge on this matter. For this reason, the Moorfield Road Action group have requested for Cheshire Police to carry out speed enforcement on Moorfield Road as we haven't seen a P.C.S.O, a patrol car or the mobile camera van for many months.

Cheshire Police will be looking for volunteers for Community Speed watch to support the work of the Constabulary. Unfortunately, after much deliberation, members of the Action group have decided not to participate in Community Speed watch. We are not prepared to put our own safety at risk dealing with the aggressive behaviour of drivers, which we have all witnessed taking place on Moorfield Road at one time or another.  Members of the Action group also feel let down by the lack of police activity and feel that Cheshire Police are better equipped to deal with this type of situation and possible outcomes.

Cheshire Police promised the Moorfield Action Group that they would continue to treat Moorfield Road as a priority area for speed enforcement until inconsiderate drivers got the message that excessive speeding and dangerous driving in a residential area was unacceptable behaviour and breaking the law. Despite this promise, residents have seen no Police presence for many months before and during lockdown, with the speeding problem getting even worse when the roads were much quieter. What made this situation more serious at that time was the fact that there were substantially more pedestrians using Moorfield Road.

The following figures are produced from the SID camera sited at the railway bridge;

Traffic Evaluation Report: 21/11/2019 – 14/12/2019 (23 days)
