We have received emails from our fellow residents, informing us that a survey has been posted to their home address with the aim of recording views regarding local streets, roads, buses and cycling. The aim of the survey is to help Halton Borough Council understand what residents think of the quality of service received, what is good, what is bad, what needs improving and what is needed in the future.
The fact that you have signed this petition means that you feel there is a serious problem with Moorfield Road and this a chance to make our voices heard to the National Highways and transport Team which is independent from Halton Borough Council . So this is the ideal time to highlight to outside agencies how bad Halton Borough Council act towards their own residents.
A large number of people living on and around Moorfield road have for many years, raised major concerns about the continued danger from excessive speeding, dangerous driving and the misuse by large overweight HGV Vehicles. However, there has been a continued lack of support for our community from our local M.P and representatives of Halton Borough Council. Ever since the community first raised these serious safety issues, residents and the Moorfield Action Group have been met by dismissive and unhelpful attitudes from our Local Councillors (including Rob Polhill Council Leader). These Local Councillors are totally unwilling to fight the corner for the very same people who helped to elect them.
Halton Borough Council’s own recording equipment has shown that over 43% of all traffic using Moorfield Road are breaking the speed limit. The camera sited on Moorfield Road has recorded vehicles achieving speeds in excess of 101mph and shows that over 625,000 vehicles are exceeding the speed limit of 30mph each year, therefore breaking the law, but there are no sightings of Cheshire Police.
Despite all the evidence, complaints from Local residents, formation of the action group and the online petition on change.org, those in authority refuse to act upon the facts presented to them. They feel it does not pose any danger to local residents and unfortunately these same figures are not being taken seriously by Cheshire Police roads and crime unit. It is inevitable that a serious accident or fatality will occur, especially with young children who attend Moorfield Primary School having to cross the narrow railway bridge.
The road safety issue is a major concern and is affecting the daily lives of parents of children who attend Moorfield Road Primary School. Parents walking their children to & from the school are extremely conscious of the amount of vehicles which go flying past them at high speed and most believe that it is only a matter of time before a child is seriously hurt or killed.
So if you do receive the survey, please give us your support by replying and making your views known on the poor service received from Halton Borough Council.
Many Thanks
The Moorfield Road Action Group
