As a passionate animal activist, I am deeply distressed by the current practices at the New York City Animal Control Center (NYCACC). Every day, innocent lives are cut short due to unnecessary euthanasia. These animals are given only a limited time in the shelter before they face this tragic fate. Even when there are interested adopters or rescue groups ready to provide them with loving homes, these dogs are often euthanized regardless.

The urgency of this issue cannot be overstated. According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), approximately 670,000 shelter dogs are euthanized each year in America. This statistic is not just a number - it represents countless potential companions who never got their chance at life.

We implore Mayor’s Office of Animal Welfare and ASPCA to take immediate action on this matter. We also call upon @GovKathyHochul and @AndyWeprin on social media platforms to support legislation that will bring about necessary changes in NYCACC's practices.
