Halt Unjust Euthanasia Practices by Fort Wayne Animal Control

Halt Unjust Euthanasia Practices by Fort Wayne Animal Control
The Issue
I am a resident of Fort Wayne, IN, and my dog Komet has been held at our local animal control since 12/13/23. Despite my ongoing legal battles to retrieve him, the authorities refuse to let me see him. Every 30 days, I am forced to pay $450 or face the unthinkable - Komet being euthanized.
Komet has not had any human contact since he was taken from me. He hasn't been walked or seen the outside world for far too long. What was supposed to be a temporary 10-day stay has turned into an indefinite sentence for Komet.
This is not just about one dog; it's about all large dogs in our community who are routinely euthanized by Fort Wayne Animal Control without fair consideration of their circumstances or potential for adoption.
According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), approximately 670,000 shelter dogs are euthanized each year in America alone. This number is staggering and highlights an urgent need for reform in our animal control practices.
We must demand transparency and fairness from our local animal control agency - starting with halting their current euthanasia practices until they can be reviewed and reformed.
Please sign this petition today if you believe that every pet deserves a chance at life and that owners like myself should have fair opportunities to fight for their pets' lives without facing exorbitant fees or unjust treatment. Together we can make a difference in Fort Wayne's pet community!
