The recent order by the Delhi government to relocate stray dogs from their territories is not just misguided — it is illegal, cruel, and a direct assault on both law and logic. This Move is Unlawful

Let it be absolutely clear: this order is in gross violation of multiple legal mandates:

• The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960
• The Animal Birth Control (ABC) Rules, 2023
• Binding directions issued by the Supreme Court of India and several High Courts

The ABC Rules explicitly state that sterilized and vaccinated stray dogs must be returned to the exact locations they were picked up from. Any deviation from this is not only illegal but punishable. No official or department has the authority to override these rules to suit their convenience.

False Claims, Lazy Governance

The government claims that “letting 200 dogs loose on the street” would create a serious situation and burden residents. This is a grossly irresponsible justification used to cover up a lack of effective animal birth control enforcement over the years.

Let’s set the record straight:

If there are 200 dogs in a single locality, it reflects a massive failure on the part of municipal authorities to implement timely sterilization. The blame lies with the system — not the animals.
Stray dogs are territorial and removing them creates aggression, chaos, and violence — both among dogs and toward humans.
Sterilized and vaccinated dogs are less aggressive and act as natural deterrents to the entry of unsterilized, more dangerous dogs. This is established science, not opinion.

Painting stray dogs as “threats” is a weak, outdated tactic to incite fear and justify cruelty. The truth is: relocation causes more harm, not less.

“Better for the Dogs”? Stop the Hypocrisy.
