The Issue

As a fearful student at the University of Bolton, enrolled on one of the smaller courses, English, I am deeply troubled by impending plans initiated by the University's Senior Management Team. Their proposed staff restructuring with the aim of saving funding is slated to make 80+ faculty members redundant. Our university community stands on the brink of irrevocable damage and potential course cancellations. Students like myself, pursuing specialized subjects are at risk of losing invaluable faculty support and our chosen academic path. The university is supposed to foster academic growth and encourage diversified interests, not limit them due to financial constraints. It's been estimated that universities contribute around £95 billion to the UK economy, yet decisions like these not only affect individuals, but the overall social and economic fabric of Bolton ("The Economic Impact of Universities in 2014-15", via Universities UK). Let's stand together against this short-sighted economic measure that sacrifices education and our futures. It's time to pressure the University of Bolton's Senior Management Team to reconsider this redundancy plan and explore alternative cost-saving strategies that won't compromise our education or the staff's livelihoods. Affected potential courses, future graduates, and the economy of Bolton need your support. Please, sign this petition.
