As concerned citizens and nature-lovers, we urgently raise our voices against the TAG Lakeside Development on Duncan Rd. in Punta Gorda, Florida. In a neighborhood close to our hearts, this development threatens our quality of life and disrupts our local ecosystem. There are no set plans for expanding schools or infrastructure to support the increased population that this project will bring, raising concerns for the quality and availability of public services.

Worse yet, the development is set to destroy our precious natural wildlife habitats. In a grievous act of disregard for nature's delicate balance, it will impact the Scrub Jay Preserve, Panther Habitat, and disturb 254 active Gopher Tortoise burrows.

This situation holds dire consequences for our local fauna, particularly the endangered Florida Scrub Jay, for which the preserve is one of only a few remaining sanctuaries. The panthers and gopher tortoises, too, play important roles in our ecosystem, with the latter often creating burrows that provide shelter for hundreds of other species.

Furthermore, we must consider possible environmental repercussions. The development carries a grand risk of pollution in the Charlotte Harbor and potential for increased flooding in surrounding communities, threatening our natural resources and the safety of local residents.

In these urgent circumstances, we implore the relevant authorities to reconsider this hazardous development project. Join us in our effort to safeguard our community's welfare, our cherished wildlife, and our natural environment. Please sign this petition.
