Halt the Renoviction of 245½ Bank Street, Protect Our Homes

The Issue

Seven years ago, I became part of the Centretown, Ottawa community when I moved into my home at 245½ Bank Street. Now, I am being pushed out for profit, along with my fellow residents, during a time when Canadians are already struggling. This situation is termed 'renoviction', an act where tenants are forced out of their homes under the guise of renovations, only for the rent to dramatically increase.

Canada is facing a housing affordability crisis. According to data published by Canadian Rental Housing Index, more than 1.7 million renters spend over 30% of their income on housing, making them vulnerable during financial crisis. We are not alone, there are many others out there with a similar plight. This is not just about 245½ Bank Street, but about every resident, every tenant who is at risk of losing their home to renovictions.

The call is for our local government and relevant authorities to implement policies protecting tenants from unnecessary and profit-driven renovictions. We deserve stability, affordable housing, and the right to live without constant threat of displacement.

This is also to expose Gorfay Realty Company LTD and what they are doing to us and how they've treated us as clients.

Please join our cause and take a stand against renovictions. Your support would infinitely help us amplify our voices. Sign this petition to save our homes.
