I am a long-time visitor and supporter of the Milwaukee Zoo, and one of my favorite attractions, along with many others, is our cherished steam locomotives. These locomotives are not just machines; they are a piece of history that has brought joy to countless visitors over the years.

The proposed removal threatens to erase this rich heritage and deprive future generations of experiencing this unique attraction. The steam locomotives have been an integral part of our zoo experience for decades, providing both education and entertainment for visitors young and old.

According to data from Visit Milwaukee, our city's tourism agency, more than 1.3 million people visit the zoo annually (source: Visit Milwaukee). It is safe to say that a significant number among them have enjoyed rides on these historic trains.

We understand that change is inevitable but believe it should not come at the expense of what makes us unique or diminishes our shared experiences. We urge you to reconsider this decision in light of its impact on our community's cultural heritage, economy, and collective memory.
