We are residents of the peaceful rural community of Lake Errock, BC. Our tranquil way of life is under threat from a proposed large-scale high-rise, multi dwelling development that our small community and region simply cannot support. The infrastructure here is not equipped to handle a significant increase in population or the environmental impact it will have to the area and natural habitat. 

This development that has significantly grown in scope and size since first put forward for community support in no way aligns with the existing planning for our area and has been met with widespread disapproval from our tight-knit community. The updated OCP does not reflect the feedback provided by Area C residents in past planning surveys, and we stand united in continuing to voice our strong NO vote against this application.

Significant negative concerns have been noted for reasons that this massive development should not move forward in this unique rural ecosystem, but seem to be disregarded by those pushing for this development, and the FVRD who have given in to the developers irresponsible application process for such a project.

According to Statistics Canada, rural communities like ours make up 30% of Canada’s population but cover 95% of its territory (Statistics Canada, 2016). This statistic highlights how crucial it is that we preserve these spaces not just for us but for future generations as well.
