Halt the POLLUTION of Harris Chain of Lakes from Lake Apopka

Halt the POLLUTION of Harris Chain of Lakes from Lake Apopka
The Issue
As residents living with a waterway behind our homes, we are deeply concerned about the toxic levels of aluminum and arsenic in our waters. An accredited lab has confirmed that these levels exceed the Department of Environmental specifications for Florida's waterways. Despite this alarming revelation, the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) remains inactive.
Our beloved Harris Chain of Lakes is under threat due to muck flow from Lake Apopka, Lake Beauclaire has lost 5-10 foot in depth on the west side, disrupting fishing activities and causing significant environmental damage. This issue not only impacts us as individuals but also threatens our local ecosystem and wildlife.
We urge you to take immediate action by moving this agenda to county commissioners, from the LCWA, who have demonstrated their understanding and commitment to Lake County residents' wellbeing. Their experience and knowledge make them better equipped to address this pressing issue. Please call you county commissioners about this matter.
In addition, we call for protective measures such as water curtains, until dredging can be accomplished, providing protection against further harm. We demand that St Johns River Water Management District (SJRWMD) rectify this situation promptly.
The health and safety of our families are at stake here – it's time for decisive action against pollution in our lakes. Please sign this petition if you care about preserving the beauty and integrity of Lake County's natural resources..
