Halt the Plans to Convert Holetown Civic Center into a High-Rise Hotel

Halt the Plans to Convert Holetown Civic Center into a High-Rise Hotel
The Issue
As fifth-generation residents of Holetown, we cherish the unique charm that defines our town. Its low-rise architecture against the ocean backdrop, the easy beach access, and the kindness of the local community weave together a beautiful tapestry of both country and cosmopolitan life. This thoughtful balance is dramatically threatened by the government's current plans to transform our beloved Civic Center into a towering nine-story hotel.
We recognize this project as an attempt to bost our economy and providenjobs, however, we can see that in the long run it will be a detriment to our town's unique identity, a disruption to everyday life, and—most importantly—an ecological disaster in the making. Such a massive structure would put significant strain on our coast, contributing to harmful erosion and flooding and putting our precious marine life at grave risk. It's a harsh contrast to the Holetown we know and love.
We are demanding that the government abandon this project and instead propose that the Civic Center becomes a beneficial public space for all Holetown residents, fostering community engagement and preserving the essence of our town.
We owe it to both the past generations who shaped this town, and to the future generations who will inherit it. Let's stand together for Holetown, where our roots run deep, and where our love for our town is as vast as the ocean that graces our shores. We urge you to sign this petition and join us in preserving Holetown's heritage, its charm, and its natural beauty.
