As regular patrons at Downtown Millbrae, we interact with its vibrant culture and businesses daily. The City Council's plan to add new parking meters in our community could make parking harder and more expensive for residents, visitors, and businesses.. For small businesses trying to stay afloat, especially after a challenging year due to the pandemic, this added expense could deter potential customers, affecting their bottom line. Studies show that parking fees can decrease retail activity by up to nine percent (Statistic Brain, 2021). We can also learn from our neighbor city, San Bruno, most business owners and patrons do not like the parking meter. We want the City Council of Millbrae to reconsider this decision. Help us uphold the friendly and accommodating character of Downtown Millbrae.
