As a local resident of Ealing whose family has personally benefitted from the comprehensive services offered by Ealing's children's centres - including midwifery and health visitor services, alongside community stay and play/dance activities aimed at 0-5 year olds - I am deeply concerned about the proposed reductions to these invaluable services. Ealing council intends to cut/ ‘repurpose’ the provision of these services by half; in an area with 344,000 people.

This will pose a great challenge for those who do not drive. It also means there will be less chance of booking an activity as the demand will be stretched across fewer centres. Many mothers, in postpartum need, may feel as though they cannot access the help that I and many others have been so fortunate to receive.

This drastic measure will leave many families in Ealing struggling to access vital physical, mental, and social healthcare for their young children.

This proposed 'repurposing' of our children's centres will isolate some of the most vulnerable members of our community. It will disproportionately affect families who rely on these localised services, particularly during early parenthood.

It’s therefore crucial to keep these facilities as they are for current and future generations of Ealing’s children.

The closure of these centres not only impacts the social and community health of Ealing: it may also have a dramatic effect on the wellbeing and developmental outcomes of our borough's youngest residents.

We propose that Ealing council reconsider this potential action and explore less disruptive alternatives. We advocate a thorough financial review that would preserve and extend the current offer; not reduce the existing service, and close current locations. This would jeopardise the future of our children and the integrity of our community. We call on our elected officials to protect access to these vital services for all families in Ealing.

Sign this petition to join us in urging Ealing council to impede the planned reduction of Children's Centre services. Let's protect our children's access to vital resources and the integrity of our community. Your signature will make a difference.
