Halt the Planned 50-Year Quarry on TV Butte, Preserve our Town and Recreation

Halt the Planned 50-Year Quarry on TV Butte, Preserve our Town and Recreation
The Issue
Oakridge, Oregon, is threatened by a proposed 50-year hilltop pit mine quarry on TV Butte. They will blast and the Rock Crusher will run 14 hours a day 7 days a week.
Ed King and Stonebroke LLC stand to make $750,000,000 in Aggregate Rock, but at what cost to the rest of us?
Lane County Commissioners Farr, Ceniga, and Loveall have benefitted by getting $200,000 from Ed King and Stonebroke LLC. They refuse to recuse themselves.
This spring the three commissioners were in Land Watch magazine with the title 'Three Lane County Commissioners on a Big Game Hunt.'
Oakridge is just two miles long, it is seen from every neighborhood. The Willamette Fish Hatchery, our Old Mill Disc Golf Course, Heckletooth MB trail and other hiking trails are all below TV Butte and will be ruined.
Oakridge thrives on its recreation economy, and this drastic change endangers both our economy and the peaceful refuge our town offers to its residents. This project offers no evident benefits to Oakridge's citizens, only the devastating disruptions of noise and pollution.
Our Elk calving grounds will be destroyed and Oakridge will lose EVERYTHING!
Retirees, and families with kids live on TV Butte. Many homes are only 1/10 of a mile away with Veterans with PTSD, and everyone will hear the noise.
TV Butte will not only visually destroy our environment, but the potential introduction of harmful silica dust and ceaseless noise from blasting and rock crushing operations will drive us crazy.
We can hear the squeaky train wheels inside our homes so we will hear the rock crusher.
A quarry will irrevocably harm our community by turning forest land into a hilltop quarry benefitting a few wealthy men.
Protection of TV Butte is not just about protecting the land, but about preserving the spirit and livelihood of Oakridge.
Please sign this petition to save our town from becoming a pit mine and to retain the tranquility and recreation it is fondly known for.
