Halt the Overdevelopment of Countryside in NFDC controlled areas.

Halt the Overdevelopment of Countryside in NFDC controlled areas.

The Issue

We are residents of Milford on Sea, deeply concerned about the rapid and unsustainable development that is taking place in our beautiful countryside. Our local infrastructure including highways, schools, and sewerage systems are already strained to their limits. Yet, there seems to be no end to the concreting over of our green spaces.

The lack of detailed reports regarding these developments is alarming. It suggests a disregard for the long-term impacts on our community and environment. According to statistics from Friends of the Earth UK, we are losing 13 square miles of countryside each year due to urban sprawl (Friends of Earth UK). This not only threatens biodiversity but also contributes significantly towards climate change.

Moreover, sustainable building practices exist that can meet housing needs without causing such extensive damage. The UK Green Building Council states that sustainable buildings use less water and energy and generate less waste (UK Green Building Council). These methods need to be prioritised over short-sighted development plans.

We must protect Milford on Sea from becoming another statistic in this worrying trend. We call upon local authorities to halt further concrete developments until comprehensive impact assessments have been completed and sustainable building practices have been incorporated into all future plans.

Please sign this petition if you too believe in preserving our countryside for future generations while meeting housing needs sustainably.
