The Issue

Jasper solar llc and subsidiary to Walden renewables llc has the intent to build a 3000 acre solar farm in jasper county ms.  Along county road 16.   It is our intent to halt this project until a study impact can be done on wildlife and climate.  It’s a known fact that large scale solar farm can cause a heat island effect. As many residents know jasper county is a host to many poultry farms in the area and a increase in temperatures can have negative effects on these poultry operations and other localized activities, also the wildlife mentioned will be effected negatively as the area is host to whitetail deer and wild turkey and other wildlife species of population, a 3000 acre solar farm of this magnitude we feel will greatly impact the area, also a study on the branches and creeks should be held as these waterways are a host to many native fish species and with the clearing of a large scale of land the runoff will impact the waterways for years to come. Please help in signing this petition to halt the project until a detailed study can be conducted.  Lastly we feel that there wasn’t enough public notices given as to the hearing on may 21 one concerned resident pointed out hardly any notice was given until WDAM 7 did a story on it.  And we feel a second hearing by the public service commission is needs and demanded.
