My passion for the outdoors is mirrored by countless others in our community. Our cherished county lands are being threatened with development that may alter their state of wilderness into a housing community. As an outdoors lover who takes solace in the serenity of these lands, I am alarmed by the imminent urbanization of these green spaces. 

Our county lands are not just spaces for recreation, but they are also habitats for diverse species. They play a significant role in our local ecosystem, maintaining our area's air, soil, and water quality. Evidence shows that the loss of local green space can lead to an erosion of community ties and increased pollution, two consequences that could have lasting effects on our areas (source: World Health Organization, Global Change and Public Health).

We must reconsider the development of these lands by keeping in view the potential environmental and social consequences. I am writing this petition to urge our local officials to consider alternate development strategies that will preserve the integrity of our county lands.
