Hello Everyone,
We have 540 signatures. Well done everyone!
If you were not around today the construction at the site ran into or dug up a gas line causing a major leak that filled the surrounding area. The smell of gas was overwhelming. The local fire department was on site and had to block off the area and secure the leak. I can't help but feel this is a result of rushed construction and lack of planning and permitting. Again I am asking for you to write our city council member Marni Von Wilpert at MarnivonWilpert@sandiego.gov. Our mayor Todd Gloria. The only way to email him is through his site. Contact your HOA and put pressure on them for answers.
Here is a list of the Rancho Penasquitos community planning group, we in Black Mountain Ranch Community fall under this planning group

One of the reasons I am opposed to this project is the strain it will put on our local elementary schools. Both Design 39 and Del Sur Elementary are at capacity with waiting lists at each. Del Sur even has added 2 modular trailers to accommodate the increase in children in the area. We have gone from a 1:21 teacher to student ratio last year to a 1:26 teacher to student ratio this year. We have the highest student to teacher ratio in the area! Solana SAnta Fe elementary School, right down the road is at a 1:18 teacher to student ratio. they did not have enough students for a full first ot second grade class so they had a combined first and second year class. So why is this project being pushed into an area that can not accommodate the families that live here currently.
I am urging all you to write today, the next city council meeting is the first wednesday in February at Rancho Peñasquitos and Black Mountain Ranch:
