Halt the Destruction of Kanchan Forest and Animal Habitats in Telangana

Halt the Destruction of Kanchan Forest and Animal Habitats in Telangana

The Issue

My soul still trembles at the echoing cries of the helpless animals and birds when their home was razed to the ground with cranes and excavators. The scenery of once a vibrant habitat in Kancha, Gachibowli, Hyderabad, near HCU in Telangana, now shrivels to the sight of 100 acres of barren land out 400 acres, a void that was once teeming with life.

Our expansive forests were not merely trees but homes to diverse animals, many of which now lie dead or displaced. I still vividly remember the heartrending incident of a deer savagely attacked by dogs, robbed of its sanctuary by our state government's careless actions. The ongoing destruction poses a significant threat to wildlife, with many at risk of extermination if immediate action isn't taken.

As per Global Forest Watch, India has lost 1.6 million hectares of tree cover just between 2001 and 2018, and this blatant eradication of the Kancha forest in Telangana is a bleak contribution to this grim record.

We cannot stand privately and watch as the life-giving bounties of mother nature are wiped out in the name of progress and development. I passionately call on every individual who can hear the silent cries of our environment, and the stark pleas of the displaced fauna ringing in my mind to reach out with your support.

We implore the state government of Telangana to halt the devastating destruction and take immediate actions to safeguard and restore Kancha's forests and all the wildlife that calls it home. Please sign this petition and lobby for swift action. Together we can change the narrative and ensure a safe and thriving natural habitat for all.
