Halt the Deportation of Lookman Shadare and His Family from Canada

The Issue

*PLEASE DON’T MAKE ANY MORE DONATIONS HERE*

This petition is a plea for humanity, a call to uphold the values we hold dear. The Shadare family, consisting of Lookman, his wife Kofo, and their three young children are facing deportation from Canada - a place they now call home. They are law-abiding citizens who contribute positively to society through their taxes.

The story of the Shadares is one that tugs at our heartstrings. They escaped from Nigeria due to religious differences that threatened their unity and safety. Lookman is Muslim while Kofo is Christian - a union frowned upon by their families back in Nigeria. The threat was so severe that Lookman's family threatened Kofo's life if she didn't leave him.

In search of peace and freedom to love without fear, they fled all they knew for Canada where they have since built a life together with their three children who know no other home but this country.

Deporting them would not only separate them from the community they've grown fondly attached to but also put them back in harm’s way in Nigeria where religious intolerance still thrives.

We urge the Canadian government to reconsider its decision on humanitarian grounds. Let us stand together as advocates for love, tolerance and human rights by supporting this family's plea for safety in our great nation.

Please sign this petition urging the Canadian government not to deport Lookman Shadare and his family; let us give them an opportunity at peace which every human being deserves.
