The Issue

I am a long-standing member of the picturesque community of Lorneville in New Brunswick, Canada. Our tranquil homes and lands are now at risk from the sprawling development planned under the ominous name of 'Spruce Lake Expansion Project'. This project forecasts to cut 110 hectares of our lush vegetative land. More worrying still is the re-zoning of our peaceful residential town into a hazardous Heavy Industrial site. As a community, we gather our water from our wells and rely on septic systems. A proposed 30-meter buffer zone does little to alleviate our fears about long-term repercussions on our water bodies and our overall public health. The adverse impact on our ecosystem stands to be devastating: our local flora and fauna, the unsung heroes of our ecological balance, may struggle to withstand the onslaught of industrialization. The aftershocks of this project will reverberate through our lives in Lorneville, resulting in a feasible decline in our quality of life.

Our plea extends not just to safeguard our serene hometown landscape but also to secure a safe, sustainable, and healthy future for ourselves and our future generations. Help us stop the conversion of Lorneville into a Heavy Industrial Park. Join us in this essential fight to protect our home, our environment, and our future. Please sign this petition today.
