Petition Supporters,

I apologize for the delayed update.  At the last Fayetteville Planning Commission Meeting (February 24th) there was a large presence of community members opposed to this project.  After several public comments, and a challenge to the poorly executed traffic study, it was decided to place the project on hold until a revised traffic study could be completed.   The previous study was done during the University of Arkansas's student winter break.   Besides that significant mistake the study showed bike lanes on Dickson Street and Block Street as a two lane road.

In addition to these oversights, I believe the updated study will be misleading because peak traffic in this area is during events like Saturday's Farmers Market, Football weekends (and other sporting weekends), Walton Art Center performances, city parades, Lights of the Ozarks, and other community gatherings.  These times of peak congestion are not captured in a traditional "business hours" traffic study.

This development will be back in front of the commission next Monday, March 24th.  We need continued community presence at the meeting and on-line if possible.  I know that it's spring break next week, but any support you can give is greatly appreciated.   Continued focus on the public safety and traffic challenges are the most tangible opportunity to stop this project.   Please continue to send your thoughts to the Planning Commission and your City Council Member.
