Halt the Construction of the McCraney Building in Winter Park

Halt the Construction of the McCraney Building in Winter Park
The Issue
Join Winter Park residents and businesses that are deeply concerned about the proposed construction of a 3-story, 30,000 sq ft McCraney building with industrial architecture in our beloved Winter Park neighborhood. Instead, a project benefitting all residents, such as a green space public park.
This development is reminiscent of the Carlyle Building incident that disrupted our community's charm and tranquility. The proposed building threatens to add an additional 100 cars to an already dangerous six-point intersection at Orange Avenue, Minnesota Avenue, and Denning Avenue. This not only jeopardizes the safety of our residents but also increases traffic congestion and potential for red light runners resulting significantly in fatalities.
Moreover, this development disrupts the peace of adjacent family parks that are integral to our community health. Our neighborhood's identity is at risk as we face a future with more concrete structures and less communal spaces that foster connection among residents.
Winter Park's charm lies in its unique blend of residential serenity combined with thriving local businesses - NOT towering office buildings that overshadow our homes and schools. We must preserve this balance for future generations to enjoy.
We urge the Winter Park City Commission to reject this development proposal in favor of preserving Winter Park’s character and integrity. Let us stand together against such disruptive developments that threaten both our safety and community spirit. Please sign this petition today to protect Winter Park from becoming another concrete jungle devoid of its unique charm.
If you support halting this McCraney project, please urgently join us by signing our petition by Wednesday, February 28, the second public meeting.
Even if this project isn’t halted, it sends a clear message to WP commissioners and the WP Mayor that large commercial projects directly backing up to residential areas, parks and schools are not what residents desire for their beautiful city.
We thank you for championing this petition.
