The Issue

As a resident of Heavitree, Exeter, I find myself deeply concerned about the proposed consolidation of the NHS pharmacy license from Heavitree Health Centre to Fore Street. This would lead to the loss of essential NHS pharmacy services at our local health centre, significantly impacting those of us relying on these services. This relocation is especially concerning for our vulnerable community members who utilise level access near parking at the health centre and those dependent on taxis or volunteer transport. These individuals have been able to conveniently visit the surgery and collect medication in a single trip.

The Heavitree Health Centre is a critical part of our community, potentially providing pharmacy services to the 15000 patients registered at both practices. The proposed consolidation could potentially disrupt the healthcare provision for these residents, robbing them of the convenience and accessibility offered by the centre’s central location.

Furthermore, the NHS Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment 2022 highlighted that the number of pharmacies in Exeter per 100,000 population was below both the South West regional and England average.

We must stand in the face of this proposed consolidation that threatens our healthcare services. The importance of maintaining our local NHS pharmacy service at the Heavitree Health Centre cannot be understated.

Please join me in this call to halt the consolidation of our health centre's pharmacy license. Your signature can help preserve the continuity of vital healthcare services in our community. Sign this petition today.
