I am writing this petition not just as an individual, but as a voice for my neighbors who immensely rely on St Johns Community Center. Our community center serves a vital role in aiding after-school care, preschool, extracurricular activities, and fostering community-building activities - essentially acting as the heartbeat of our locality.

The St. Johns Community Center serves one of the most diverse and financially challenged demographics in the city, making the center an indispensable support system. It's not just a place, but a safe haven that protects our children from crime and that also contributes significantly to the financial stability of our local businesses. 

Closing the St Johns Community Center would be a huge detriment to our community, leaving many without essential services and a safe environment. Imagine a young child being left without a place to gather safely after school, or a senior citizen, missing out on the regular community gatherings that keep them feeling connected and less lonely, or the teenagers who no longer can use the basketball court to practice their skills and get the exercise we all know is desperately dwindling for children and adolescents. 

Our appeal is simple – the St Johns Community Center needs to continue its operations. It is an essential pillar of support for many of us living in this neighborhood.
