This petition is deeply personal to me and many others in our community. The proposed closure of our Community Centre due to council cuts and funding issues is not just a loss of a building, but a devastating blow to the heart of North Lanarkshire.

Our centre is more than just a place; it's an anchor organisation for warm hub, resilience base for potential power cuts/blackouts, and supports over 20+ much-needed community groups. It's where people find jobs, receive vital services, and connect with their neighbours.

During the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdowns, we were there for our community when they needed us most. We provided families with food supplies, electricity and gas assistance while also offering mental health support during these challenging times.

The closure will not only lead to job losses but also deprive our community members from accessing essential services that they rely on daily. We cannot let this happen.

We urge North Lanarkshire Council to reconsider their decision about the funding cuts that threaten this invaluable resource in our community. Let us stand together against this proposal that threatens to tear apart the fabric of our society here in North Lanarkshire.
