As a Cheyenne resident, I like many others, value personal freedom. It is part of our Wyomingite way of life to own and enjoy an RV, a trailer or a travel van while admiring the majestic nature of our state. Yet, the Cheyenne City Council is planning to implement an ordinance declaring all oversized vehicles as a nuisance and forbidding them from parking on the street for more than 72 hours. These plans have been made without any research into how many people this restrictive policy will affect, or considerations about storage availability or costs. It seems that they care more about enforcing rules and regulations rather than preserving the quality of life we cherish. This ordinance has been developed in response to complaints by a vocal minority, ignoring the silenced majority who enjoy their vehicles as part of their daily lives. Many of us park our oversized vehicles, like RVs and trailers, in front of our homes. This ordinance will drastically inconveniences a large number of us. This is a step too far. Let our voices be heard loud and clear. To halt this ordinance from taking effect, a petition with significant backing is needed.
