It was never designed to accommodate the high volumes of traffic that would inevitably come with the proposed apartment complex construction.

Building this complex would bring in a surge of vehicles, disrupting the peace and safety of our cherished neighborhood. Further, our street was originally a dead-end, adding to its tranquility.

Research from the University of California, Berkeley shows that increased traffic flow in residential areas can significantly raise noise pollution levels, as well as the risk of traffic accidents, affecting the health and safety of residents (UC Berkeley, 2012). This is the exact threat that the Melrose Street community stands against today.
