Halt or Relocate the Construction of a Cell Phone Tower Next to Timber Branch Neighborhood

The Issue

As residents of Timber Branch Subdivision in Covington, Louisiana, we were taken aback when we discovered that a cell phone tower is under construction just yards away from our homes. This project, located off Bricker road right behind the baseball field for the First Baptist Church, was initiated without any prior information given to any of our residents. No one had knowledge of it. None of us were publicly notified. I myself certainly wasn’t prior to moving here 2 years ago.
Our neighborhood sits directly across from this site and we are deeply concerned about the potential health and safety risks associated with it. In addition the church neglected the safety of there youths recreation area and daycare that sits right near this cell tower. The World Health Organization classifies radiofrequency electromagnetic fields as possibly carcinogenic to humans (Group 2B), based on an increased risk for glioma, a malignant type of brain cancer associated with wireless phone use, in addition to a host of other ailments. This risk is especially concerning for our children who are more susceptible to these harmful effects.

Moreover, there's also concern about how this tower could affect property values in our area. Studies have shown that proximity to cell towers can decrease property values by up to 20%. We fear that this construction could not only harm our health but also financially impact us negatively.

We urge local authorities and relevant stakeholders to either halt or relocate this project immediately. Our community's health, safety, and financial stability should not be compromised for technological advancement.

Please sign this petition if you share these concerns and want action taken against the placement of this cell phone tower near Timber Branch neighborhood.

These are studies and resources to links below that state the dangers of electromagnetic frequencies, in particular the danger of being exposed to the constant radiation from living and working near the cell towers.
