Halt Natwest's Closure of Bank Branches for Community Accessibility

The Issue

I am an individual deeply affected by the proposed closure of Natwest bank branches. This is not merely a transactional issue, but also one of accessibility for the broader community, especially seniors who are not adept with modern technology.

My local Natwest branch in Cleveleys, a town populated predominantly by retirees, is facing closure. For these individuals, banking transactions can't solely rely on electronic systems. As we all know, card machines can fail, online systems can be tricky for older users, and in-person banking remains an essential service.

It's a fact that branch closures, which have been increasingly prevalent in the UK, disproportionately affect the elderly and the low income customers who depend on them for banking services. According to the Financial Inclusion Commission, over 1 million adults in the UK do not have access to a bank account, which further stresses the importance of physical branches(Financial Inclusion Commission, 2015).

We urge Natwest to consider the vibrant lives and needs of Cleveleys' residents, along with those in other communities where branch closures are intended. Let us keep open these pathways to financial accessibility. Please sign this petition to persuade Natwest to halt their closure of our treasured community bank branches.
