The Issue

I am a 20-year state and federally licensed rehabilitator who has witnessed first-hand the damaging effects of the Michigan Department of Natural Resources' (DNR) actions. I've seen their non-enforcement of crimes against wildlife, the absence in care for our wildlife, and the introduction of an amended nuisance wildlife law that unfairly targets the state's wildlife, while sparing species that bring in profit for the DNR!

Michigan’s own climate change initiative emphasizes the importance of preserving existing habitats as they play a critical role in maintaining the balance of our ecosystem. Yet, the DNR continues to destroy forests and wildlife habitats under the guise of climate change mitigation.
Research suggests that forest destruction severely hampers the fight against climate change. Forests act as carbon sinks, absorbing CO2 that would otherwise remain in the atmosphere. According to data from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, forests absorb about 30% of the world's carbon emissions annually. This clearly shows that by destroying these habitats, the DNR is not only contradicting Michigan's own climate change policies, but also, globally recognized climate change mitigation strategies.

We need your help to end this profit-motivated destruction. By signing this petition, you can help us protect our forests and wildlife habitats. You can voice your disagreement with the DNR's actions and demand they adhere to true climate change initiatives that promote sustainable practices and protect our precious wildlife. Sign today and help safeguard Michigan’s natural treasures for future generations.
