I am a government employee, dedicated to fulfilling my duties and responsibilities for the betterment of the United States. I, along with countless others, have witnessed detrimental changes that affect us deeply and personally. In the pursuit of keeping America great, steps have been taken by the administration that threaten to veer us off course. Instead of progressing, we're facing an unprecedented political crisis, largely stemming from the mass layoffs of federal workers, a move that hampers effective public service delivery. The Department of Education's abolishment, and the attempt to privatize the United States Postal Service are cases in point. According to the American Federation of Government Employees, there are almost 2.1 million civil servants in the workforce (Federal Labor Relations Authority, 2020). These changes could risk their job security and harm the public sector's capability to deliver crucial services. These actions reflect an administration prioritizing individual beliefs over the collective needs of the people. We must stop these harmful policies and bolster the public sector. It's time to halt the mass firings of government workers, reinstate the Department of Education, and prevent the privatization of the United States Postal Service for the welfare of the American people.
