On Thursday, September 5th 2024 at 4:00 pm, just off Stanley Park Drive at Pipeline Road and Reservoir Trail there will be a rally to demand the City of Vancouver abandon its plans to log the beautiful, wild and bio-diverse Chickadee area--scheduled to be logged out as early as the end of September, 2024. With no approval by the democratically elected Board of Parks and Recreation, no public consultation, and no peer review, B.A. Blackwell and Associates were given a contract by several City of Vancouver staffers to cut down and remove 160,000 trees from Stanley Park, and the Chickadee area is next!

The science is clear. We have consulted with six experts who came from as far away as Oregon, northern British Colmbia, and the Columbia Shuswap to personally survey Stanley Park. They agree that the current program of tree removals in Stanley park is doing more harm than good!

Unless we want to lose what is left of Stanley Park, and create fire risk where little otherwise exists, we must block further logging.

Join us at the Chickadee to hear more about the faulty Blackwell assessment written in an attempt to justify this cruel devastation (which among other defects, neglects to mention that there is fire suppression in the Park featuring more than 68 water hydrants). Come see for yourself the wild beauty of this area that is about to be devastated, unless we stop the chainsaws! Tell the City of Vancouver to get Blackwell’s saws out!

If you haven't had a chance to donate to the legal fees, now would be a great time. We are asking anyone who cares about the beautiful trees in Stanley Park to just donate between $5 and $20. Many people have already, so thank you, but if all 18,000 of us chip in a teensy bit, we can save Stanley Park, the Jewel of Vancouver.

The media is invited.

We will be presenting new research which fundamentally undermines the Stanley Park Hemlock Looper Impact and Wildfire Risk Assessment published by B.A. Blackwell & Associates, which is the authoritative premise for the entire logging operation.
