Halt Housing Developments on Warton and Jandakot Road to Protect Wildlife

The issue

From my childhood until now, I've experienced firsthand the transformation of Harrisdale, as housing developments have increasingly encroached on our beautiful landscape. My cherished memories are filled with encounters with our local wildlife - kangaroos, rabbits, and other splendid marsupials that once graced our landscape abundantly. However, I fear that these memories will be all that is left if our insatiable quest for urban expansion continues.

The amount of housing estates has grown exceedingly, pushing these creatures out of their natural homes along Warton and Janakot roads. Each construction project forces them into increasingly smaller territories, with many dying in the process, either from the actual development work or in their dangerous journeys across roads seeking new habitats. This shrinking living space threatens not only individual animals but whole local species.

As we make room for more human homes, we also lose more of the wildlife that made Harrisdale so special. Overpopulation isn't just a human issue here; it directly impacts our native fauna, causing an imbalance in our local ecosystem.

Houses can be built elsewhere; lost wildlife cannot be replaced. We demand that the government halts further housing development on Warton and Janakot roads to protect our local wildlife. Let's embrace and preserve the beauty of our local natural biodiversity and ensure our children can share the same beautiful experiences we did growing up.

Please join me in fighting to save the home of our beloved wildlife. Sign this petition to urge authorities to put an immediate stop to these harmful developments.
