Good afternoon all,
I emailed Georgie Crozier MP late 2024 to raise further awareness regarding the proposed Activity Centres, lack of community consultation and impact across Melbourne.
I was grateful to receive a response, and Ms Crozier also informed me that she has spoken to many community members who have expressed their disgust at the Government's "answer" to the housing crisis. "We are in a housing crisis, we will build our way out of it..." (wise words of Jacinta Allan, along with "I'm a builder not a blocker")
I was then told the following by Ms Crozier's office manager:
"At this stage we are only collecting and tabling paper petitions. We may do an electronic petition via the Parliament website at some stage, but the threshold for debate is higher at 10,000 signatures."
After being told the threshold was initially 2,000.
If the parliament is imposing a 10,000 minimum physical signature demand on any topic to raise for debate, I have no idea how community voice can be heard. If anyone in this community has any idea, please add in the comments, or reach out to me I am trying everything I can do, but am unsure how to achieve this completely archaic and unrealistic goal.
