Dear Supporters and Members of the San Francisco Community,
We want to extend our deepest gratitude to each of you who has signed the petition, shared our story, or supported our families in any way. Your solidarity has meant the world to our children, parents, and teachers at Stratford School San Francisco (14th Avenue campus) during an incredibly difficult time.
It has now been two weeks since Stratford notified families of its sudden decision to close the SF14 campus. Despite our collective efforts — hundreds of petition signatures, broad news coverage, direct outreach to Stratford executive leadership, and constant parent organizing — Stratford and Spring Education Group have refused to engage with families any further.
There has been no direct communication with families since November 5th, and no transition plan has been offered to help our children navigate the enormous disruption ahead. For many of us, it feels as though our children and families were treated like lines on a spreadsheet that could be deleted with no regard for the emotional or educational consequences.
This is painful, but it is not the end of our story.
Where We Stand — And Why We Are Hopeful
Despite Stratford’s silence, our SF14 families remain strong, united, and deeply committed to fighting for our school community. In the last week, we have organized parent meetings, consulted experts, and begun exploring a realistic and promising path:
Transitioning SF14 into an independent, nonprofit school — created and led by parents.
Our vision is simple and powerful:
- Keep SF families in San Francisco
- Retain our students, teachers, and principal
- Continue the Mandarin immersion program
- Maintain the academic excellence that brought families to Stratford
- Build a stable, community-rooted school that cannot be closed by a corporation overnight
With the support of petition signers, neighbors, and community partners — we see an opportunity to create something truly beautiful and lasting for our children and for San Francisco.
Why This Matters to Our City
San Francisco is already facing challenges keeping families here — many parents have shared that this closure is forcing them to question whether they can stay in the city.
This is not just a private school issue; it is a family retention issue, a community stability issue, and an opportunity for San Francisco to show what is possible when families and communities work together.
We will continue to organize, advocate, meet with city leaders, explore a nonprofit transition model, fight for stability for our children. We will keep the community updated at every step.
Thank you for standing with us.
Thank you for sharing your voices.
And thank you for believing in a future where our children can thrive right here in San Francisco.
