Halt BP's LightSource plans which risk destroying Anglesey’s landscape
The Issue
Hello all, just to say a huge thank you for taking the time to register your objection. Your 319 signatures have been confidentially submitted to the Anglesey County Council Planning portal and have been registered as 319 objections.
We are one of only three worldwide UNESCO recognised sites for exceptional Geology and have wonderful biodiversity and landscape. Nature and our tides are our power.
Well done all and let's stop this from being a devastation of our Mon landscape. The UK government is backing tidal and wind renewable energy long term - not these short-term solar farms which have a short life and are very the opposite to being environmentally friendly.
But you don't need me tell you that! Thank you, Lucy

Residents in north Anglesey have witnessed firsthand the landscape becoming a hub for clean energy developments. Although this is generally beneficial to the wider UK, it has reached a point of overdevelopment where we must preserve our remaining precious farmland and wildlife biodiversity on the island. The need for green energy has to be shared more evenly across the UK.
Anglesey is a UNESCO site and admired for its natural beauty, and home to one of the UK’s largest Red Squirrel populations. With its outstanding geology, stunningly landscape, biodiversity, ancient history, agriculture and Welsh culture. Our farmlands play an invaluable role in feeding our population and maintaining ecological balance. In light of predictions from the United Nations that there could be a potential global food crisis within the decades due to climate change (UN Report, 2019), our farmlands have never been more critical. BP proposing to construct a solar panel farm threatens this balance. Help us to prevent companies like BP ruining the island with ‘Project Maen Hir’
Anglesey is already home to the Wylfa Newydd nuclear plant, and expanding wind farm, an existing solar farm, and Morlais' tidal energy project, it seems disproportionate, even counterproductive, to sacrifice more of our farmland for energy purposes.
Therefore, we urge BP, a corporate citizen, to reconsider and cancel their solar panel farm project in Anglesey. By preserving our farmland and the beautiful landscape now, we protect our future food security.
